Loudspeaker Design Calculations Toolkit
Loudspeaker Design Calculations Toolkit is a free, portable speaker design software for Windows. It contains a set of tabs which can be used for various calculations and conversions related to loudspeakers. The calculations can be done in different units such as centimeter, meter, inch, feet, etc. and a precision value can be chosen too.
The speaker box calculation can be done in Box Dimensions tab. In this tab, you can enter target box volume, interior dimensions (width, height, depth), and panel material thickness (front panel, rear panel, side panel, top panel). While specifying interior dimensions, you can lock any of the three dimensions. As results, you get exterior dimensions (width, height, depth), volume, and target variance. It also displays computed resonant frequency and ratio. There is a Cicada Box tab which computes recommended box dimensions to lower box resonances.
Here is the brief description other tabs present in this speaker enclosure design software:
- Driver: In this tab, you can calculate area of driver cone by entering radius/diameter.
- Displacement: You can calculate port and driver volume displacements. For port displacement calculation, you can specify outer diameter and internal length to calculate port internal displacement. As for driver displacement, you need to enter cone diameter, voice coil diameter, magnet diameter, cone depth, magnet depth, cutout diameter, and cutout depth to calculate gross, cutout, and net internal displacement values.
- Frequency/Time: Here, you can convert values between wavelength, cycle time, and frequency.
- Near/Far Adjust: This tab performs near and far field calculations.
- Woofer/Port Adjust: Here, you can compute adjustment between driver and port near field.
- Z-Offset: It displays driver/baffle acoustic center offset calculations.
- Frequency: It lets you view frequencies for various instruments and vocals.
- Voltage & dB: You can perform conversion between voltage and dB units.
- LPad: It computes resistor values for desired driver attenuation.
- Parallel/Series: You can compute resistance, inductance, and capacitance here.
- Port Tuning: To calculate port length and port frequency, use this tab.
- Filters: Design filters here.
- Curves: You can load and view measurement curves here.
You can generate HTML report for box dimension measurements and other calculations using File > Save As option. A Print option is also available in this freeware.
