10 Best Free Online ROT13 Encoder Services
Here is a list of the best free online ROT13 Encoder services. ROT13 is a simple cipher technique that uses a letter substitution method. It is a part of the Caesar cipher developed in ancient Rome. This method uses the same 26 letters of the basic Latin alphabet. But it replaces the letter with the 13 letters after in the alphabet. Thus the ROT13 stands for “rotate by 13 places”. So, in ROT13 encoding, “a” becomes “n”, “b” becomes “o”, and so on.
As there are 26 letters in the basic Latin alphabet and ROT replaces with the 13th letter, this makes ROT its own inverse. That means you can apply the same algorithm to encode and decode ROT13. However, the algorithm does not provide any cryptographic security.
This post covers 10 websites where you can encode ROT13 online. These websites offer ROT13 encoders where you can add plain text and convert that into ROT13. Most of these websites also have ROT13 decoders where you can change the ROT13 cipher back to plain text. You can go through the post and check out these ROT13 encoders in detail.
My Favorite Online ROT13 Encoder
Text-Utils.com is my favorite website on this list to encode ROT13 online. The ROT13 encoder here is quite simple to use and can also decode the ROT13 cipher back to regular text. It offers a few additional options that make it really handy. These options include the ability to import a file, export output to TXT, character count, shareable link, and more.
While you are here, check out our other lists of the best free Online Base64 Encoder Websites, Blowfish Encryption Online Services, and Online Morse Code Audio Encoder Websites.
Text-Utils.com
Text-Utils.com has a free online ROT13 Encoder/Decoder tool. This tool has two text boxes side by side. The box on the left is for input and the box on the right is for output. It has a gear-shaped icon below the input box. From there, you can set the tool for ROT13 encoding or decoding. Then you can simply add the input and encode/decode it with a click. You can also import a file to load the text from it. This tool shows the letter count on the screen. It shows the character count for input as well as output. After the operation, it generates a link that you can use to share the output. Along with the link, you also get options to copy the output to the clipboard and download it as a TXT file.
Highlights:
- This tool can encode and decode the ROT13 cipher.
- Option to import file to directly add the input text.
- It shows the character count for both, input and output.
- It generates a link to share the encoded/decoded text.
- Offers direct buttons to copy output as well as export it to TXT.
- No direct copy or export but you can select and copy the output.
DenCode.com
DenCode.com has a free online tool where you can encode and decode the ROT13 cipher online. There is an input area at the top where you can add the text. As you add the text, it shows the character count alongside. After that, you can pick the option to encode or decode as per your needs. Clicking on any of those options shows a small text box with the output. Alongside the box, you get the option to copy the output to the clipboard. This tool also generates a link to the output. You can use that link to share the results.
Highlights:
- This tool can encode and decode the ROT13 cipher.
- It shows the input character count on the screen.
- It generates a link to share the encoded/decoded text.
- Offers direct buttons to copy output as well as export it to TXT.
ToolkitBay.com
ToolkitBay.com is a free website with an online ROT13 Encode and Decode. With this tool, you get two input options’; Text Input and File Input. If you have the text then simply paste it into the input box and press the given button to get the output. But in case you want to use the text from a file then you can upload that file and then translate the text extracted from that file. Similar to input, this tool has two output options; Output Text and Output File. If you want to copy the text then you can get it from the Output Text section. And if you want it as a TXT file then you can get that from the Output File section.
Highlights:
- This tool can encode and decode the ROT13 cipher.
- Option to take input from a file and get the output into a TXT file.
- No direct copy or export but you can select and copy the output.
Cryptii.com
Cryptii.com is a website where you can find a wide collection of cryptic tools. It basically has a common encoder/decoder interface that you can configure for ROT13. This ROT13 tool can encode and decode. You can simply add input at one end and get the output at another end. Along with the encoding/decoding, the tool shows the character count in the middle. Apart from the ROT13, you can use this tool for other ROT encoding and decoding.
Highlights:
- This tool can encode and decode the ROT13 cipher.
- It shows the character count of the input.
- No direct copy or export but you can select and copy the output.
Dcode.fr
Dcode.fr is another free website where you can find a variety of encoding, decoding, and ciphering tools. It has a ROT13 Cipher tool that you can use to encode as well as decode ROT13. This particular tool has a separate section for ROT13 encoding and decoding. You can simply add your input in the respective section, click a button, and get the result. It shows the results on the left side section. One unique thing about this tool is that it offers an option to use ROT5 to encode/decode the numerical entries as well.
Highlights:
- This tool can encode and decode the ROT13 cipher.
- Option to use ROT5 for the numerical entries.
- No direct copy or export but you can select and copy the output.
Browserling.com
Browserling.com offers an online ROT13 encoder that you can use for free. This tool can encode and decode the ROT13 cipher. But there is no clear indicator for that. It just takes the input and applies the ROT13 algorithm to it. Since ROT13 is an inverse of its own, it works. If the text is encoded then it gets decoded and voices versa. There is a direct button to copy the output which makes it handy to use.
Highlights:
- This tool can encode and decode the ROT13 cipher.
- Option to copy the output to the clipboard.
Online-toolz.com
Online-toolz.com has 100+ online tools including a ROT13 Encoder and Decoder. This tool has an input form and an output form with a button in between. You can add regular text and encode it to ROT13 within a couple of seconds. And if you have ROT13 encoded cipher then you can decide it the same way. There are no quick buttons to copy or export. However, you can always select the output and copy it directly to the clipboard.
Highlights:
- This tool can encode and decode the ROT13 cipher.
- No direct copy or export but you can select and copy the output.
Md5decrypt.net
Md5decrypt.net is another website where you can encode and decode the ROT13 cipher. There is a simple tool on this website where you can add your input, select the cipher and get the output. There is no option to toggle encoding/decoding. Whether you have to encode or decode, simply paste your text into the box on the left and pick the ROT13 algorithm for the dropdown. After that, you can get the output by clicking the “Translate” button.
Highlights:
- This tool can encode and decode the ROT13 cipher.
- No direct copy or export but you can select and copy the output.
ROT13.com
ROT13.com is a website dedicated to ROT encoding. There are 25 ROT encoders on this website ranging from ROT1 to ROT25. It has two text boxes with a dropdown list in the middle. You can pick the ROT type from the dropdown and then add the plain text into the box that is above. When you do that, it instantly encodes that into ROT13 and shows the output in the box that is at the bottom. This tool can not decode ROT13 cipher back to plain readable text. Also, there is no direct option to copy or export the output.
Highlights:
- It is a simple ROT13 encoder that encodes instantly as you type.
- No direct copy or export but you can select and copy the output.
Boxentriq.com
Boxentriq.com is yet another website where you can encode ROT13 online. There are two boxes on this website, one for “Message” and one for “Translation”. You can add your input in the “Message” box using the direct “Paste” button. Then you can translate and copy the output from the “Translation”. There is no direct button to change to decoding. Since ROT13 is an inverse of itself, you can simply add encoded text as input and get it decoded in the output.
Highlights:
- It is a simple tool to encode regular text into the ROT13 cipher.
- Offers copy and paste buttons for quick input and output extraction.
