Here is a list of best free TCX file editor software for Windows. TCX i.e. Training Center XML is a file format to store tracks with a series of waypoints or track points. To edit a TCX file, you can use one of the software listed in this article. These software let you modify existing waypoints’ information like longitude, latitude, elevation, description, symbol, time stamp, etc. You can also add new waypoints or delete any of existing ones. In some of these software, you can also reverse, split, or merge tracks. Many of these software support various map services to locate waypoints directly on the map, such as OpenStreetMap, OpenCycleMap, HikeBikeMap, MapQuest (Satellite), 4UMap, etc.
After modifying TCX file, you can save changes in the original TCX file. Or, you can even convert TCX file to some other supported formats including KML, KMZ, GPX, TRK, RTE, LOG, etc.

Garmin BaseCamp
Garmin BaseCamp is basically a free GIS software for Windows and Mac. You can use it as a TCX file editor too. It lets you open a TCX file and modify its waypoints, routes, and tracks.
As you import a TCX file, it displays the visual representation of GPS data. To edit the file, it lets you add new waypoints, tracks, and routes using its Tools menu. From the same menu, you can find some handy features to pan, move, measure, etc. You can edit waypoint properties by selecting them from the left panel, such as name, coordinates, elevation, depth, symbol, proximity, temperature, contact information, etc. It lets you select several waypoints to create a route with those waypoints. It also lets you create a new TCX file from scratch.
You can select a track and view its statistics such as points, distance, area, time, speed, elevation, etc. You can also view Speed v/s Distance and Elevation v/s Distance graphs. It also lets you view and edit notes and references.
It is a nice TCX editor which supports many more formats including GPX, KML, KMZ, LOC, etc. You can find various other features in it like Send File to Device, Find Points of Interest, Find Addresses, Find Places on Yelp, BirdsEye Imagery, Create Adventure, Trip Planner, etc.
JGPSTrackEdit

You can modify a waypoint, add a new waypoint, remove an existing one, reverse waypoint order, etc. It also lets you split or merge tracks. Apart from that, you can compress a track, update elevation, correct points, and remove invalid points.
To visualize track on the map, you can select the desired map service like OpenStreetMap, OpenCycleMap, HikeBikeMap, MapQuest (Satellite), 4UMap, etc. It provides options to save map view as an image and save altitude profile as image.
All in all, it is a nice free software to edit TCX files and other files.
GPS Utility
GPS Utility is another TCX file editor on this list. As you open a TCX file, it lists all containing track points. You can change the view to waypoints, routes, track summary, map, etc. You can modify waypoint properties such as latitude, longitude, altitude/depth, timestamp, etc. It lets you add new waypoints too, delete existing ones, reverse track, etc. You can find some nice useful tools like Create Waypoint from Trackpoints, Break/Join Track, Calibrate Altitude/Depth, Smooth Altitude, Correlate JPG files, etc.
Other than above mentioned features, it lets you modify map settings, map appearance, symbol set, etc. You can save the edited TCX file in its native format or convert TCX to other supported formats using its Export function. The supported formats include TXT, CSV, GPX, KML, WPT, RTE, TRL, ASC, GTR, etc.
RouteConverter

This TCX file editor provides flexibility to import waypoints or tracks from other supported files. You can also search for a location using its Find Place option and add it to the track. At last, you can save the TCX file (Training Center Database 1 or 2). Or, you can also convert it to another supported format.
Notepad++
Notepad++ is a popular text and code editing application for Windows. This can be your another alternative to a TCX file editor. It displays the XML codes consist in a TCX file. You can edit these codes to modify basic attributes of track points like longitude, latitude, altitude, start time, description, etc. You can find these attributes and modify their values. If you want to add a new track point, you can do that manually by copying code of a track point and customizing the attribute values. Also, you can remove a track point from TCX file by removing the respective code. While saving the file, you need to select All Files option and then manually add .TCX file extension.
3D Route Builder
3D Route Builder is the next TCX file editor on this list. The free version is restricted in terms of editing features, but you can edit a lot of aspects of a TCX file.
- You can edit existing waypoint’s information namely name, description, and altitude.
- It also lets you insert route/track from another file (KML, KMZ, GPX, TCX, etc.).
- You can delete selected waypoints from TCX file.
Note: You can’t edit longitude and latitude information of waypoints in this free version. Also, it doesn’t load more than 500 waypoints. To be able to utilize all features, it asks for upgrading to the paid version.
