QR-Code Studio is one of the most popular QR code generator software. You can make QR code for various kinds of input, such as Text, URL, Contact or business card, Mobile tagging, etc. It has an easy to use interface with a Preview panel that generates and displays QR code in real time while you input data. If you click Input Assistant, you would know that there are many types of input that you can provide. It allows raw data input, business card information, calendar event, SEPA payments, etc. to be converted into QR code. It also allows creating QR codes for social network profiles for websites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. You can import a text file and it will read it perfectly and can generate QR code for it as well. You simply have to choose the type of input and enter the complete data, then QR-Code Studio will generate QR code for it. QR code can be saved (or exported) as an image of file formats: bmp, jpeg, png, or tiff, or can be copied to clipboard.

This is a free QR generator software, and has a paide version too. Some of the features do not work for the free version. I have mentioned only the features available for free version of this software.

Just like in QR-Code Studio, you can generate QR code for plain text, URL, phone/sms, mail, and business cards. Also, it lets you create QR code that can store LAN credential, Google map location, PayPal account, and App download link for various App stores. There is no option to copy the generated QR code to clipboard. A generated QR code can only be saved in PNG format.

Quick Response Generator is a free QR code generator software. It is not much user-friendly because it doesn’t really features any input types as was the case in other software in the list. It simply has an input box where you can enter text to make QR code for it.

In case you want to generate QR code for other input types, you can do that here. But, this requires you to be familier with input type codes. Generating QR code for plain text does not requires any code, but for input types like: Contact, Business card, Hyperlinks, Wifi login credentials, etc. you need to enter your data along with codes.

I have demonstrated how to input QR code to store WiFi credentials in a QR code. Type the following code: WIFI:S:ssid_name;T:WPA;P:network_password;; Here ssid_name should be replaced by the name of WiFi connection, T is the type of WiFi network, and network_password should be replaced by password for WiFi.

I tried scanning the generated code to connect to WiFi on my android device and it worked. This method is applicable for all the QR Generators in the list which offer only plain text input type. If you know formats to create various types of input for QR generator, even a pretty basic QR code generator will work fine for you.

Quick Response Generator lets you set different resolutions for generated QR code. It allows you to save the generated QR code in jpeg, png, gif, and bmp formats and lets you copy it to your clipboard as well.

You can change the Size and Margins of the generated QR code. Also, QR code appearance can be changed by adding background and foreground colors. At last, you can save your QR code in png, tiff, jpeg, bmp, and gif image file formats.

Error Correction is another feature that you can use. It can be used to provide extra detail to a QR code so that it can be read even if the QR code gets distorted in any way.

If you are not worried about having a little extra file size of the generated QR code, you can set Error correction level to H (Highest). This will enable you to recover up to 30% of the data that the QR code is storing, in case the image gets dirty or distorted.

Ultimate QR-code Generator is a free Firefox plugin to create QR codes. This ultimate QR code maker has everything you need to make even the most complex of QR codes. I’ve gone through many plugins, and I find this one to be the best.

Once you install this plugin on your Firefox browser, an icon will appear in the browser toolbar. Just click it once, and a box will open up with input boxes and a preview panel to see QR code generating in real time. The third input box is one with all the input types. By default, it’s set to Text. You can change it to URL, WiFi, Email, phone, me-card, biz-card, YouTube, Google play, and Geo Location. So, you can create QR code for all these types. For instance, if you change the input type to Wifi, you will see a code with brackets in-between. This kind of code has already been discussed before in one of the applications (see Quick Response Generator) in the list. You need to enter SSID and Password (in the closed brackets).

One of the best things of having this QR maker installed as a plugin is whenever I open up a website, it automatically fetches the website url and creates QR code for it.
